John Bustamante is a founding partner at Denko & Bustamante LLP. John focuses his practice primarily on patent, trademark, trade secret, and copyright law, with an emphasis on due diligence and litigation of intellectual property. He also provides counsel in connection with identification and protection of intellectual property, as well as, strategic legal advice on other technology-related matters

Since 2003, John has worked at a number of law firms, from BigLaw to intellectual property boutiques, focusing on complex patent matters and representing numerous Fortune 100 companies. He has worked every aspect of complex patent litigation, from pre-suit investigation to appeal, including seven investigations before the United States International Trade Commission.

• Lucent Technologies v. Gateway, Inc. (S.D. Cal. 2007) - patent infringement action.

COMMUNITY & CIVIC ACTIVITIES

Chair Pro Tempore for the Zoning Commission for the City of San Antonio.

Previously served as Vice Chair of the Historic Design and Review Commission for the City of San Antonio.

Pro-bono representation of a neighborhood association and local church.

Represented children and parents in cases where the State of Texas is attempting to terminate parental rights due to abuse and neglect.
